A new member of your department
Mgr. Ondřej Vicher studied Chinese philology at Palacký University in Olomouc, where he subsequently entered the PhD programme, led language and cultural seminars and lectured in the course History of Traditional China. Before embarking on his academic career, he worked as a translator and interpreter from Chinese.
He is interested in the history and literature of traditional China, especially the fictional works of the late Ming Dynasty. His academic research focuses mainly on the novel Jin Ping Mei, the remaining volumes of which he is translating into English together with Lucie Olivová. He has also begun work on a complete and unabridged translation of the novel Sanguo Yanyi into English

On Wednesday 22.11. we welcomed the author Zhu You-Xun to the Chinese Studies Seminar, who introduced two important authors in his presentation: Ne Hualing and Jing-chen Chen (Chen Yingzhen).
