Welcome to our new colleague
Maria Istvanova, M.A. PhD., served as a lecturer of Chinese at the Department of East Asian Studies, Comenius University Bratislava. After obtaining the master’s degree at the University of Vienna, she completed her doctoral studies at the Department of East Asian Studies at Comenius University Bratislava in 2022 with a dissertation project embedded in the field of Chinese learner corpus research in cooperation with the East China Normal University as a part of the China Studies Program Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship (2019-2020 and 2021-2022).
Her research interests span the fields of Chinese as a second language research, corpus linguistics, Chinese learner corpora, and the study of learner’s erroneous pronunciation in Chinese. Dr. Istvanova has previously taught courses on Chinese grammar, acquisition of pronunciation in Chinese, and translation seminars of specialized Chinese. She has also been supervising BA and MA students.

On Wednesday 22.11. we welcomed the author Zhu You-Xun to the Chinese Studies Seminar, who introduced two important authors in his presentation: Ne Hualing and Jing-chen Chen (Chen Yingzhen).
